Green Roofing Options

Roofing

Our County is split vertically down the middle in two climate zones. The coastal zone, or western half of Humboldt County falls under zone 1 and the eastern half falls under zone 2.

Currently PG&E is offering rebates of 0.20 cents a square foot of installed “cool roofs” in zone 2 of Humboldt County.

In our county the most common types of roofing materials installed are Asphalt shingles, cedar shakes and metal sheet roofing.

Tile might be on a small percentage of structures as well. Most of these options don’t make the cut in the green building world.

Synthetic roofing is fast becoming one of the new green options for a roofing material.

Follow the link below to learn more about this approach or look under the Green Roofing vendors sections and contact a dealer to learn more.
