About Us
The Northcoast Green Trades Association (NGTA) was founded in March 2011 for the following purposes:
• To organize, develop and coordinate marketing & outreach on green issues
• Provide vendor education and continuing education to its members
• Provide public education and advocacy efforts on behalf of green issues
The NGTA is comprised of building contractors, building trades people (carpenters, electricians, insulation specialists, solar installers, etc…), green product vendors, educators, realtors, financing institutions, green technology students and others who work in any field associated with green building, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green lifestyle products and other related fields.
What Does “Green Tech” Mean?
Environmental technology (abbreviated as envirotech) or green technology (abbreviated as greentech) or clean technology (abbreviated as cleantech) is the application of the environmental science and green chemistry to conserve the natural environment and resources, and to curb the negative impacts of human involvement. Sustainable development is the core of environmental technologies.

Some of the issues we’ll be working on this year:
• Energy Upgrade California – program logistics & implementation, compile database of home energy analysis performed as basis for local Home Energy Rating system (a comparative guide for homeowners to see how their home rates compared to the database of homes analyzed). Develop a marketing campaign around home energy ratings.
• Energy Efficient Mortgages (HUD) - an existing program available today that we need to take advantage of and promote to realtors and banks. Organize a working group to help market and promote this program. Tie in with BPI home analysis program to stimulate market.
• Green Trades Directory – Expand green building trades and vendors database and promote Northcoast Journal’s “Do it Green” directory.
